We are all aware of how important data is in informing the Supply Chain how to negotiate unexpected changes like the blockages of oil routes and war zone interferences which are playing out now.
But less obviously, data has a huge role in other Supply Chain challenges that face the industry and its workers.
John Sucich highlights several ways in which data is needed: for compliance; transparency; and reliability in the management of products and staff across the sectors. By combining other new technologies such as robotics and drones, certain uncomfortable human tasks which were prone to inaccuracies are now able to produce more reliable data. In other scenarios data is used in a complex tracking system to promote ethical practices and make better choices.
